We sing, we dance, we do everything!

We are an acapella group that is looking to have fun and meet new people! Every year new members join our club to sing a variety of songs, meet friends for life and create memories. We offer all of that and more! It is the best University experience if you love to sing.

Our Story

It all started in 2011 when our co-founders Jennahfer Letvi & Michael Brannen started an acapella club. They started with hosting weekly meetups for any student interested in learning an acapella song! They simply called themselves the Glee Club, and you'd typically find the group singing together in the stairwells of the Marion building. As they became regulars to the Marion stairs, different departments around uOttawa would recognize them from their singing and call them "the voices in the Marion stairwells". In 2013, once the club gained an abundance of interest, the group was divided in two. One of them would remain "The Glee Club", open to all students interested in singing. The newest second group would become a competitive audition-based group, focused on preparing a Year End Concert. They needed a unique name for this new group. Suggested by the co-founder Michael, they chose "The Glee Gees". Another option was "The Marion Wells," but The Glee Gees had a better ring to it! As the years have gone by, the group moved on to winning numerous awards such as the Innovation In Arts award at the annual Student Life Awards in 2020, 2022 and 2023. Finally, in 2024, the Glee Gees attended the Queen's Annual Intercollegiate A Cappella Competition and earned Second Place! Additionally, from their competition set, the song Footloose was awarded Outstanding Original Arrangement. The rest is now history!
