ABOUT US
Singing, dancing, and everything in between.
We’re an a cappella group all about good vibes, great music, and even better friendships. Each year, new members join us to sing everything from pop to classics, make lifelong friends, and create unforgettable memories. If you love to sing, this is hands-down one of the best ways to make the most of your university experience.

OUR STORY
It all began in 2011 when co-founders Jennahfer Letvi and Michael Brannen started an a cappella club at uOttawa. They kicked things off with weekly meetups for any student interested in learning a song together, just for fun. Back then, they simply called themselves The Glee Club, and you could often hear them harmonizing in the stairwells of the Marion building.
As the group became a regular presence in Marion, people around campus started referring to them as "the voices in the Marion stairwells." By 2013, interest had grown so much that the club split into two. The original Glee Club remained open to all, while a new audition-based group formed with a focus on competitions and a Year End Concert.

This new group needed a name. One suggestion was The Marion Wells, but co-founder Michael had another idea. He proposed The Glee Gees, and it stuck.
Over the years, the Glee Gees have gone on to win multiple awards, including the Innovation in Arts Award at the Student Life Awards in 2020, 2022, and 2023. In 2024, they made their competition debut at Queen’s Annual Intercollegiate A Cappella Competition, taking home Second Place overall and earning a special award for Outstanding Original Arrangement for their performance of Footloose.

From stairwell harmonies to stage lights, the Glee Gees have come a long way and they are just getting started.
